Gastkünstler am Wolkenhof
Der Zeichner Matthias Beckmann war im Juni 2020 während 10 Tagen am Wolkenhof zu Gast. Ausgerüstet mit Druckbleistift, Zeichenblock und Klapphocker hat er sich in Murrhardt umgesehen. In seinen dokumentarischen Zeichnungsfolgen, die ohne fotografische Hilfsmittel vor dem Motiv entstehen, interessiert ihn das Zusammenspiel von Bedeutsamem und scheinbar Nebensächlichem.
Aus den 49 Zeichnungen mit Innen- und Aussenansichten von Murrhardt hat er einige Motive ausgewählt, daraus die Fensterbilder komponiert und mit Kreide direkt auf Glas gezeichnet. Ausserdem ist eine Edition mit 5 Postkarten erschienen, welche für die Dauer der Ausstellung an verschiedenen Orten für die Murrhardter*innen zum Mitnehmen aufliegen.
Zur Eröffnung waren alle Originalzeichnungen im Atelier am Wolkenhof zu sehen.
Matthias Beckmann
Matthias Beckmann, geboren 1965 in Arnsberg, studierte an den Kunstakademien in Düsseldorf und Stuttgart. Er lebt als Zeichner in Berlin. Mit Jörg Mandernach und Uwe Schäfer ist er Teil der Künstlergruppe "Die Weissenhofer". Förderungen: u.a. Arbeitsstipendium des Kunstfonds Bonn, Auslandsstipendium des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen für Paris, Stipendium der Künstlerhäuser Worpswede, das Casa-Baldi-Stipendium in Olevano Romano und Arbeitsaufenthalt im Atelier des Landes Oberösterreich im Salzamt Linz. 2020 Reise-Stipendium des Goethe Instituts Bangalore. Matthias Beckmanns Werke befinden sich in vielen grafischen Sammlungen, z.B. in Berlin, Bonn, Bremen, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Oberhausen oder Wuppertal.

Matthias Beckmann draws Murrhardt

Artist in Residence at the Wolkenhof
In June 2020 Matthias Beckmann spent 10 days at the Wolkenhof. Equipped with retractable pencil, drawing board and folding stool he had a look around in the small town of Murrhardt. In his series of documentary drawings he focuses on the interaction between the meaningful and the marginal. They are realized in front of the subject without any photographic tool.
He selected a few motifs from Murrhardt's 49 drawings and composed the window pictures from these and drew them directly on glass with chalk.
Additionally an edition with 5 postcards was issued. During the duration of the exhibition they are displayed for free to the inhabitants of Murrhardt at different places in town. During the opening event also all original drawings were displayed to the public.

Matthias Beckmann born in 1965 in Arnsberg (D), studied at the art academies of Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. He lives in Berlin.
In cooperation with Jörg Mandernach and Uwe Schäfer he is a member of the artist group "Die Weissenhofer".
