Impressions: ‚Of Barriers and Distances‘ an indo-swiss art project conceived and curated by Parvez for Gallery Dotwalk and Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency, Delhi Videoscreening 27.4. - 11.7.2025 Im Sommer 2024 reiste eine Gruppe Künstler:innen aus der Schweiz nach Delhi, um dort zwei Wochen lang gemeinsame Zeit mit fünf Künstler:innen aus verschiedenen Regionen Indiens zu verbringen. Initiert wurde das Projekt von dem aus Indien stammenden und in der Schweiz lebenden Künstler und Kurator Parvez. Der Titel „of Barriers und Distances“ – von Hindernissen und Entfernungen - bezieht sich nicht alleine auf die geografische Distanz zwischen Europa und dem indischen Subkontinent, sondern ebenso auf Aspekte historischer, sozialer und kultureller Abgrenzung und deren Überwindung. Im Zentrum standen Begegnung und Austausch - bei Besuchen von Ateliers, Galerien und Ausstellungsorten in Delhi und in den vielen Gesprächen am grossen Esstisch der Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency. Drei Videosequenzen spiegeln persönliche Eindrücke der teilnehmenden Schweizer Künstler:innen wider. Sie wurden für die Projektpräsentation in der VIA in Basel im Oktober 2024 produziert und dort erstmals gezeigt. Das vierte Video wurde von der Gallery Dotwalk in Delhi produziert und dokumentiert die Ausstellung “of Barriers and Distances” in der Galerie. Beteiligte Künster:innen Amjum Rizve, Abdulla PA, Tufan Pramanik, Richa Arya, Birender Yadav Muda Mathis and Sus Zwick, Mimi von Moos, Copa & Sordes, Parvez Einige Originalarbeiten aus dieser Ausstellung werden ab dem 12. Juli am Wolkenhof zu sehen sein. Ausstellung 12.7.-27.7.2025 about the screening In 2024, a group of artists from Switzerland traveled to Delhi to spend two weeks with five artists from different regions of India. The project was initiated by the Indian-born, Switzerland-based artist and curator Parvez. The title “of Barriers and Distances” refers not only to the geographical distance between Europe and the Indian subcontinent, but also to aspects of historical, social, and cultural division and how these may be bridged. The emphasis was on encounters and exchange – visiting studios, galleries, and exhibition venues in Delhi. And in the numerous conversations about our own work – at the large dining table of the Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency. Three video sequences reflect the personal impressions of the participating Swiss artists. They were produced and shown for the first time for the project presentation at VIA in Basel in October 2024. The fourth film was produced by Gallery Dotwalk in Delhi and documents the exhibition “of Barriers and Distances”.
