An Internal Garden dokumentiert Sibel Horadas gleichnamige Einzelausstellung im Depo Istanbul vom 17.11. - 30.12.2018.

Zentrum des internal gardens ist eine Kompostanlage. Im Verlauf der Ausstellung transformiert diese Tageszeitungen zu Humus, während gleichzeitig an den Wänden aufgehängte Pflanzenableger Wurzeln schlagen.
Ebenfalls aus Tageszeitungen werden Pflanzgefässe gepresst. Am Ende der Ausstellung werden die drei Elemente Humus, Vegetation und Gefäss vereint und sind so bereit den internal garden nach draussen zu verbreiten.
Sibel Horada sagt dazu: Many of the plants that rooted in "An Internal Garden" are still growing in various homes and gardens, in solidarity with #DearOsmanKavala.

Aus einem Interesse an urbanen, archäologischen und ökologischen Aspekten heraus fokussieren ihre Arbeiten auf kollektive und persönliche Geschichten. Sie untersucht die Erinnerung ans Verschwinden, verwebt seltsame Details und Koinzidenzen zu Erzählungen und materialisiert ihre Begegnungen in poetischen Skulpturen und Installationen.

our own sleep our own sleep von Muda Mattis und Sus Zwick ist für die Performanceband Les Reines Prochaines entstanden. Der Song thematisiert den Schlaf als Akt des Widerstands: Schlaf ist private Anarchie.

“Sibel Horada’s solo exhibition An Internal Garden is set up around a central compost mechanism that will produce soil throughout the exhibition. The healing vitality of the soil regenerates itself as well as offering ground for other life to flourish. Horada will sprout and root vegetation on the walls of the exhibition space and shred daily newspapers– which, while providing carbon for the composting soil, will also be molded into planters that will serve as water soluble vessels. By the end of the exhibition, these three components, the soil, the vegetation, and the newspaper vessels will come together to prepare our internal garden for dissemination and further cultivation outdoors. The exhibition deals with soil -which is often associated with death- as a living entity and stresses the time and care its transformation requires both literally and metaphorically. While questioning our relationship with the speed of contemporary life, it pays homage to Depo as a slow, and yet rooted space of social cultivation.“ Lara Fresko Madra

Sibel Horada is an artist born and raised in Istanbul. Upon completing her BA in Brown University in the United States, she received her MA from Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul and continued to live in this city. Her works have been shown in many institutions in Turkey and Europe, including MAC museum Vienna, Depo Istanbul, Ludwigsburg Kunstverein, Hannover Kunstverein and Matadero Madrid.
Her work focuses on collective and personal histories with an interest in urban, archaeological and ecological cultures. She investigates the memories of erasure with stories that weave together strange, coincidental details. Using text and forms, she materializes her encounters in poetic sculptures and installations.

Our Own Sleep by Muda Mattis and Sus Zwick was created for the performance band Les Reines Prochaines. The song praises sleeping as an act of resistance: sleep is private anarchy.
